Kobayashi ends Qualifying prematurely
There was no shortage of twists and turns in the Qualifying for the 24 Hours of Le Mans which determined the best eight crews of all three classes who earned the opportunity to participate in tomorrow’s Hyperpole (appointment at 8.00 pm with the live broadcast on FormulaPassion.it until the checkered flag which will wave at 9.00 pm ).
The traffic had a significant impact on the fast laps of the Hypercars and the session also ended almost three minutes early (therefore a flying lap) due to Kobayashi’s Toyota #7 going off the track, which was attacking the best time when he attacked the last corner of the Porsche Curves too decisively. The Japanese took the curb too far on the left, losing his rear end and ending up in the gravel. The red flag is inevitable.
Shortly before, it was a surprise that the best time was achieved BMW #15 with Dries Vanthoor at the wheel (Raffaele Marciello is also in the crew). The Belgian stopped the clock at 3’24″465 ahead of the Cadillac of Sebastien Bourdais and the Ferrari #50 of the always very fast Antonio Fuoco.
They complete the list of cars qualified for the Hyperpole the Toyota #7 (pay attention, however, to possible penalties for causing the red flag), the Alpine #35 – great result for the French manufacturer while Peugeot did not go beyond the 16th time – the Cadillac #2, the Ferrari #51 and the championship-leading Porsche #6, the only 963 that will be able to aspire to pole position tomorrow. The #83 customer Ferrari finished in 13th position ahead of the #63 Lamborghini.
