The month of June began where the lows and highs in women’s soccer are the order of the day. Within Spanish football, there has already been one of the most important casualties for FC Barcelona, the left-back Leila Ouahabi is the first player from the culé team to say goodbye.
Leila Ouahabi says goodbye to Barcelona and will no longer be with the Blaugrana for the following season as her contract has expired. Although the soccer player was presented with several offers and among them was that of Barcelona to renew her contract, Ouahabi chose to take a new path and leave the club.
Leila trained at La Masia and also had a stage at Valencia between 2013 and 2016, after finishing her contract with Valencia, the side returned to Barcelona to add a total of nine seasons with the institution, during that time the player managed an enviable record. Ouahabi leaves Barcelona with a Champions League title, five League titles, seven Queen’s Cups and 2 Spanish Super Cups.
Through a video on social networks, Barcelona Femenil thanked Leila after having been in their ranks for 13 years.
The now former Blaugrana said goodbye to the institution with the following words:
“After 13 years, my cycle at FC Barcelona is coming to an end. I can only thank all the people who made it possible for me to be at this club, and especially those who have always trusted me. I leave having won everything with this shirt, and I feel privileged to have been able to experience the change and growth that has taken place during all these years. I take with me thousands of people, experiences, learnings and experiences that I will never forget and companions who are family to me”
– Leila Ouahabi
Leila will join the ranks of Manchester City in the coming days and will be reunited with her former partner Vicky Lozada.
