The court ruled at the time that the founder of the Wikileaks leak site could not be handed over because his mental health was very shaky and the risk of suicide was high.
However, Assange was not released on bail at that time pending a decision on the appeal because there were good reasons under the law to believe that he would escape.

The trial of Assange’s case is unlikely to end on Friday, whatever the decision. If the U.S. appeal is upheld, the matter will return to a lower court. Either party can also still appeal Friday’s decision to the British Supreme Court.

The annual dossier of about half a million documents covered details related to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, among others. The U.S. administration claims Assange would have helped the former intelligence analyst Chelsea Manningia to steal leaked documents.
Assange could face up to 175 years in prison in the United States.
