What did the Commissioners inspect?
At the end of each race, tests are carried out technical checks – those that, for example, found excessive wear on the bottom on Hamilton’s Mercedes and Leclerc’s Ferrari in the United States at the end of 2023 – and one car is randomly selected for more in-depth examinations.
Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari SF-24 was extracted in Imola, a car that had already been examined by the Stewards in Japan. After the GP held on the Suzuka circuit, the Commissioners’ checks focused on flexibility of the vehicle flooron theassembly and thickness of the pad (the skid block) and up all components of the rear wing whose flexibility has been verified.
After the Emilia Romagna GP, however, the FIA delegates checked suspension springs and shock absorbers and all the components of both suspensionsboth front and rear, with all the annexes also connections and sensors that refer to the SECU control unit, the ‘little computer’ that processes all the information inside the F1 cars. All the components examined were found to comply with the technical and sporting regulations.
