LeBron James is a record richer. The Los Angeles Lakers player scored 26 points in the away game against the Golden State Warriors, enough to replace Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at the top of the top scorers list calculated over matches from the regular season and playoffs of the NBA. The win was for the Warriors: 117-115.
Abdul-Jabbar reached 44,149 points between 1969 and 1989, James is now at 44,157. In the more prestigious ranking of top scorers in the regular season, James is still 1861 points behind Abdul-Jabbar. That list is fairer because the difference in the number of play-off matches played gives a distorted picture.
,,It’s cool, unbelievable,’ said Lakers coach Frank Vogel of James’s milestone. “I think he’s the best ever.”
Golden State continued to follow in the footsteps of Phoenix Suns through the victory. The Western Conference leaders also won, for the 46th time this season. Orlando Magic was beaten with 132-105. Golden State is on 42 wins.
