The 24h of Le Mans will already begin with a penalty on the back for two Ferraris in the Hypercar Class.
At the end of the Qualifying held on the Circuit de la Sarthe at dinner time, the 499P #51 and #83 were caught out by the stewards.
The alleged infringement concerns the incorrect positioning in the area set aside for the cars at the end of the session, which resulted in a 10″ penalty that the two LMHs from Maranello will have to serve at the first pit stop of the race.
“After checking the video evidence, the Stewards considered that the car did not stop correctly in the dedicated parking area,” reads the note.
“Pursuant to Article 12.3.4 of the FIA International Sporting Code and Article 7.4.6 of the 2024 WEC FIA Sporting Regulations, this decision is not subject to appeal.”
