Lawyer Solovyov: some customers do not pay for goods at the self-service checkout
Some citizens use self-checkouts to steal goods. About this cheating scheme told Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov in an interview with the Prime agency.
“They approach the terminal, read the barcodes of goods with a special device, and then imitate card payment and leave the store. As a result of such actions, an unclosed check is formed at the checkout for self-payment,” Solovyov warned.
According to the lawyer, the next customer who comes to the checkout with an unclosed receipt “risks, in addition to their goods, to pay for the purchases of shoplifters.” Therefore, when paying at self-service checkouts, you should make sure that there are no open checks on the device. After payment, you should also carefully check the receipt with the list of purchased goods.
“If extra goods are found in the check, you must contact the administration. An employee of the administration, together with the security service, will check the data from the surveillance cameras and return the overpaid funds,” the expert concluded.
Earlier, lawyer Solovyov spoke about daily withdrawals from a bank card, which may arouse suspicion among banks. According to him, suspicious transactions are transfers to more than 10 recipients per day, more than 30 transactions for crediting or debiting funds per day, transactions with an amount of more than a million rubles per month, or a short period of time between debiting and crediting funds.
