The suspected crimes took place between 2004 and 2019. The Helsinki District Court previously dismissed the charges because, according to it, there was insufficient evidence.
Helsinki the main hearing of the cultural adviser-writer begins today at the Court of Appeal Veijo Baltzarin, 81, on human trafficking and sexual crime charges. Prosecutors are demanding a minimum ten-year prison sentence for Baltzar. Baltzar continues to deny all charges.
According to prosecutors, Baltzar lured girls and young women to live with him and controlled their lives, did forced labor and subjected them to sexual violence.
There are seven interested parties in the case. At the time of the suspected crimes, between 2004 and 2019, they were between 15 and 36 years old.
In February 2022, the Helsinki District Court dismissed all charges in the case. According to it, there was insufficient evidence of alleged subjugation, taking control or sexual crimes.
