Lancia’s Design division has a new commander. It’s Gianni Colonelappointed as of yesterday Head of Design of the Turin brand: he will work closely with Jean Pierre Ploue, Chief Design Officer of the European brands of Stellantis, and Luca Napolitano, CEO of Lancia. “It will contribute to the plan Renaissance of Lancia, with the aim of making it a respected and credible premium brand in Europe”the company announces through an official note.
Colonello new Head of Design Lancia
Colonello boasts over twenty years of experience in the automotive world. Always in the design orbit: his professional debut took place in Fiat Auto in 2002, working for various brands within the Style Center and holding increasingly important positions. Subsequently, he was the protagonist of a two-year experience in the North American Style Center of FCA, as Interior Designer for the development of the company’s shared programs. Last stop before arriving at Lancia, from 2012 to 2021 he was Head of Interior Design for Maseratia role in which he followed the development of the brand’s concept cars and production vehicles.
His professional career
So here is the transition to the Turin brand: from 2021 to 2024 he was Head of Design of the Interior of Lancia, in a position that the company itself defines as “fundamental for the redefinition of the brand’s new design language”. In this role he managed the creation of the interiors not only of the new Ypsilon, but also of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE Concept and the whole entire range of the brand. Now a new adventure for him, still at the head of the Lancia world.
