Supersports car brand Lamborghini has announced that this year will be the last in which the automaker will make gasoline-only cars. Following the trend of the world’s leading automakers, it will start manufacturing hybrid vehicles from 2023.
“For sure, they (the customers) knew that hybridization was coming. We always said we didn’t have to be the first, but once we got into this universe, we would be the best. This is something that we are convinced will happen”, said the brand’s CEO Stephan Winkelmann in an interview with the British magazine Autocar.

The largest European automakers are aligned in the manufacture of hybrid cars, as the laws of the European Union countries with regard to gas emissions are increasingly demanding and engines that run solely on combustion are failing to comply with environmental regulations.
German automakers, for example, will no longer be able to produce combustion cars in the country from 2030.
Lamborghini, however, will not stop producing its famous V12 engines. Unlike BMW, which this week announced that the big engines will only be produced until June.
