Auxiliary current giving to another vehicle led to the total destruction of both vehicles on Konekorjaamontie in Lahti on Sunday, according to the Päijät-Häme rescue service.
The rescue service was alerted to the fire scene before one o’clock in the afternoon.
Auxiliary power had been supplied from the van to the motorhome, in which case the engine compartment of the van had caught fire first. The vehicles were facing each other, and the fire spread from the van to the motorhome as well.
The people who were there tried to put out the fire, but to no avail. Both vehicles were completely destroyed. However, the fire started outside, and no other damage was caused in the situation.
From the scene of the fire very thick smoke spread, which caused the traffic to be stopped for a while on the adjacent train track. Exploding car tires also caused a loud noise.
