The Real Sociedad of Imanol Alguacil with capital letters, will be in Europe for the fifth consecutive season after beating Valencia in Anoeta, who also wanted to maintain the illusion of entering the territory of the chosen ones, but did not find a way to do so. It remains to be seen what competition the San Sebastian team will play in, but for now they have an advantage over Betis, against whom they will play on Sunday, and whom they provisionally overtake in the standings.

Real started very well against the Valencian team, and that start helped them, in addition to getting ahead on the scoreboard, to control the first half without problems. After a scare from Yaremchuk, which he scored on the run, although he was offside, it didn’t take long for the San Sebastian team to score their goal. It was in a passed cross from Barrenetxea that Kubo had faith, because he ran to the baseline to touch behind without letting it fall and causing André Silva to push it header without opposition.
Better placed, the San Sebastián team struggled through the middle, attracted Baraja’s men, and then played on the wings to create superiority and danger in Mamardashvili’s area. Furthermore, when they lost the ball, Imanol’s players recovered it immediately, due to his forward pressure and also because Valencia seemed to be uncomfortable when it was their turn to play forward. So Real Sociedad played comfortably, without problems or having to run too much.
The situation changed somewhat in the second half, because Real went a few meters back and left space for Valencia to progress. The game was balanced, but the visiting team lacked edge and had a hard time reaching the San Sebastian area. Only with the departure of Gayá and Canós did they get closer with a little more danger, and then Remiro appeared with a double save in the same action, with shots from close range by Canós and Marí, to avoid the Valencian tie. After that action, the match became a back-and-forth, something very dangerous for Real Sociedad, which was the team that had the most to lose with the score in its favor. But nothing happened, and the realistic team took the game and a European place.
