A new milestone for Kickstarter.
The crowdfunding platform Kickstarter ended 2021 with a total of 441 successfully funded video game projects. A report published by the agency ICO Partners explains the statistics of an unforgettable year for the portal, thus signing an absolute record in terms of the number of securities financed.
The video game category has traditionally been one of Kickstarter’s flagships, although the ups and downs have been a constant over the past decade. In 2021, however, the platform broke its previous record. To date, the two best figures are found in 2020 with 429 funded video game projects and 2014, with 413 projects.
In total, the volume of revenue raised through the video game category in 2021 on Kickstarter amounted to $ 24 million, a slight drop from the calculated $ 26 million in 2020. In other words: More projects were funded, but with a raise. considerably lower dollar average. 2013 remains the year with the highest gross turnover in terms of revenues (and average revenues) with 56 million dollars distributed over “only” 395 projects.
