KIA’s electric range expands with the debut of the new one EV3. It is to all intents and purposes a sub-compact SUV powered exclusively by battery, which will be offered on all the main global markets in which the Korean company operates. A very promising car, also and above all in terms of autonomy: KIA talks about a range of mileage exceeding 600 kilometres calculated in the WLTP cycle for the Long Range version.
Two battery options
Which is obviously not the only one: the new KIA EV3 is based on the E-GMP architecture, and is available with a single electric motor but with two battery options. The standard version of the electric SUV benefits from a battery with a capacity of 58.3 kWh, while the Long Range variant is equipped with a larger 81.4 kWh unit. Through fast charging, you can go from 10 to 80% of the battery capacity just over half an hour. Chapter performance: the electric motor that pushes the car delivers 204 HP of overall power and 283 Nm of maximum torque, for a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h which takes 7.5 seconds and a maximum reachable speed of 170 km /h.
The design of KIA EV3
In terms of dimensions, the new EV3 measures 4,300 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,560 mm tall, all combined with a wheelbase of 2,680 mm. The production version of this electric sub-compact SUV turns out very similar to the reference concept car previewed last year, complete with modern styling cues originally introduced by the KIA EV9 flagship. Someone differences but they are there: think of the revised LED graphics on the lighting units, or the slightly modified bumpers, or even the conventional mirrors and thicker pillars.
Interiors and technology
Inside the passenger compartment, the Digital Panel It includes a 12.3″ instrument cluster, a 12.3″ display for infotainment and a separate 5″ touchscreen for climate controls. THE physical controls have been retained only for essential controls, while the operating system will be equipped with voice control enhanced by artificial intelligence. Initially, the new KIA EV3 will be launched in the Korean home market, and then land in Europe and the United Kingdom.
