The US winger had asked to be sold in recent months, and many clubs had inquired to verify the feasibility of the operation. Today a Sean Marks statement marks the turnaround
With an unexpected step back, Kevin Durant has decided to withdraw his request to be swapped to stay with the Brooklyn Nets. The announcement comes directly from the franchise, through a statement by general manager Sean Marks released by official channels: “Steve Nash and I, along with Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, we met Kevin Durant and Rich Kleinman (his agent, ed) in Los Angeles yesterday. We agreed to continue together. We will focus on basketball, with a single unified goal: to build a lasting team to bring the title to Brooklyn ”. The summit, therefore, had the hoped effect of putting Durant back at the center of the technical project to try a new assault on the title, after the disappointing elimination last season in the first round of the playoffs at the hands of the Boston Celtics.
HOW MANY REQUESTS
–
Over the past few months, Durant had been forcefully asking to be sold. The wing had enlivened the summer, attracting the attention of many suitors ready to bet on him. The most concrete requests had come from Memphis, Atlanta, New Orleans, Phoenix, Miami and especially Boston. Celtics and Nets in fact had worked on a trade, which did not go through because in addition to Brown, there was a request from Brooklyn to also include Smart in the operation. Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Denver also inquired about the feasibility of an exchange. But in the end Durant will follow up on his contract with the Nets uniform: he has four years left for a total of over 195 million dollars.
