Kayak divers and a special drone: this is how the Police and UME are working to bail out the water in the parking lot of the Bonaire shopping center

The media deployment has divers specialists who have even used a kayak to navigate and the support of a drone special capable of flying and obtaining images in very small spaces, the added difficulty that there are multiple accesses and pipes that generate air currents and turbulence in that volume with stagnant mud inside the parking lot.

There have already been several days of bailing out water with high-capacity pumps and now they must also be useful for extracting mud.

The Minister of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, Angel Victor Torreshas detailed the last hour in “one of the black spots of ground zero”, the Bonaire shopping center, where it is expected that there may be several bodies inside the parking lot that is still flooded. «At this moment there is 50 troops working there, four machines and a kayak, bailing water and we cannot speculate. What we have to do is continue with the work and we have no more information that we can give about how many people there may be inside,” he specified.

Among others, the Parachute Sappers of Alcantarilla (Murcia) are on this mission and deaths in at least a dozen cars have already been ruled out.

This Sunday afternoon they had managed to lower the water level to one and a half meters, because a day before an unsuccessful attempt was made to reach the interior in conditions to be able to inspect all the vehicles and the large area of ​​2,000 square meters on several floors, where it is estimated that have come to be 200 million of liters of water.
