The Kansas City Chiefs condemned Wednesday's deadly shooting in the central U.S. city during its victory parade in the superbowl, in which one person died and at least 10 were injured.
“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside Union Station at the conclusion of today's parade and rally.”declared the American football champion team in a statement.
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs quarterback, put “Prayer for Kansas City” as a message on social media. Shortly before, hundreds of thousands of red-clad fans had greeted Mahomes and his teammates as they traveled a two-mile route in a procession of double-decker buses draped in red and gold confetti.
Mahomes, who at one point was wielding a can of beer and the Vince Lombardi Trophy, and several Chiefs players got off the buses. Then, they waved and took selfies with fans, many of whom began lining up before dawn to get the best spots to watch them.
