Kabosu, the dog protagonist of the ‘doge’ meme that has been going crazy on social media and in chats for years, has died. Announcing the disappearance is Atsuko Sato, Kabosu’s owner. The dog, who died at the age of 18, was a female Shiba breed. Since 2022 she has been living with a form of leukemia and liver disease. Since 2010 he was the face – or rather, the muzzle – of one of the most popular memes, which exploded on the web starting in 2013. The dog had become the official logo of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. Kabosu’s death affected the prices of the cryptocurrency, which lost around 3%.
