Justice decrees temporary arrest of 2nd suspect in Amazonas

The decision was made by Judge Jacinta Silva dos Santos, from the District of Atalaia do Norte; the process is still in court secrecy

Justice decreed this Wednesday (June 15, 2022) the temporary detention for consecutive days of Oseney de Oliveira dos Santos, the 2nd suspect in the disappearance of journalist Dom Phillips and indigenist Bruno Pereira.

Osney, known as “Dos Santos” is the brother of Amarildo Oliveira dos Santos, the 1st suspect in the crime, called “Naked“. He was arrested on Tuesday (June 14) by the Federal Police and, after undergoing interrogation, was taken to a custody hearing in Atalaia do Norte (AM).

The decision was made by Judge Jacinta Silva dos Santos, from the District of Atalaia do Norte, and the process is still under judicial secrecy.

On Thursday (June 9), the judge had already decreed the temporary arrest of Amarildo for 30 days. He was arrested during an approach for possession of drugs and 762 caliber ammunition, of restricted use, while also carrying hunting weapons.

As found out the Power 360, Amarildo confessed this Wednesday (June 15) to having helped to hide the bodies of the journalist and the indigenist, after they were murdered. The suspect reportedly told the PF that he knows the location of the bodies. He also said that he was not responsible for the executions, which would have been by gunshots.

The English journalist Dom Phillips and the Brazilian indigenist Bruno Araújo Pereira had been missing since June 5, in the state of Amazonas. Both were last seen in the Javari Valley, a region close to the border with Peru.
