The Militància Decidim candidate, Oriol Junqueras, was the candidate with the most votes in the internal election day to decide the new presidency of ERC held throughout this Saturday. The former president of the party beat the other two candidates with 48.3% of the votes. However, since he does not exceed 50% of the votes cast, Junqueras will have to attend a second vote that will take place on December 14.
Xavier Godàs, Nova Esquerra Nacional candidate, will challenge Junqueras for the presidency by coming in second position, with 35.3% of the votes. In third place is the Foc Nou candidate, Helena Solà, who has gathered 12.6% of the votes and will not be able to attend the second round, since only the first two pass. High participation has undoubtedly been the key to the day.
Just over 8,000 militants, 8,030 specifically, were called to express their vote between 9 in the morning and 8 in the afternoon electronically, and finally the participation was 81.3% and 6,533 militants have cast their vote .
