After three years, the processions and the tamboradas will return the illusion to the people of Jumilla
Jumilla will celebrate Holy Week in the street. This has been confirmed this morning in the plenary hall of the City Council, the mayor of Jumilla, Juana Guardiola, along with the president of the Central Board of Holy Week Brotherhoods, Antonio Ramos, and the president of the Cristo de la Sangre Drum Association Francis Guardiola.
After three years with practically no processions, one due to the rain and the other two due to their suspension due to the pandemic, the acts, parades, drumming and processions will once again fill the streets of Jumilla with religious fervor. The people of Jumilla will finally be able to enjoy a Holy Week that has been declared of International Tourist Interest.
The mayor has expressed that they are “very excited” to be able to celebrate this festival again: “In these two years we have lost many things, but the illusion to continue has not been lost and that is what we want to convey to the people of Jumilla.”
For his part, the president of the weekly body, Antonio Ramos, stressed that “despite the suspensions, from the Central Board we have continued to work intensely, together with the City Council, at all times with the alternatives that the situation marked, but with the same spirit and hope to be able to reach today.”
