Judge Juan Carlos Peinado has decided to consider Juan José Güemes, former director of Esperanza Aguirre and director of the Instituto de Empresa, as investigated in the case in which he is investigating Begoña Gómez. The magistrate had called Güemes to testify as a witness this Monday to explain why the IE hired the wife of the President of the Government and sources in the case explain that he has announced that he will be called to testify later and as an investigation.
Sources in the case explain that Güemes’ statement has been contradictory with that of another witness linked to the Instituto de Empresa and that the investigating judge has cut off his appearance to announce his future summons as a defendant.
One of the multiple ramifications of the case that Peinado has been directing for months against Begoña Gómez is related to her activity at the Africa Center of the Instituto de Empresa (IE) that Gómez began to direct in the summer of 2018. The judge has already asked several witnesses if her hiring had to do with her resume or because she is the wife of the President of the Government. One of the witnesses stated in court that Güemes, director of the IE, was the one who urged the hiring of Begoña Gómez.
His appearance as a witness did not last long and he left the court without wanting to make statements to journalists. Sources in the case explain to elDiario.es that the judge has understood that he has incurred contradictions with another witness related to the IE and has cut off his statement to announce that his next summons will be as investigated.
