Juan Pablo Montoya: unexpected reaction to knowing that he will go to the Hall of Fame

What happened

The 48-year-old former pilot was one of the most voted among the 14 nominees for the recognition that will take place in USA. More than 150 journalists, historians and motorsports participants chose him to receive this recognition.

The ceremony in which the new members of the Indianapolis Hall of Fame will be inducted will take place on Thursday, May 23 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, just three days before the 108th edition of the Indy 500.

Montoya spoke about this recognition and noted that he was happy that they had taken it into account.

“The truth is, I'm very happy. How does it feel? That I'm old,” he told Semana Magazine.

And he added: “Honestly, it's a little funny because when you start putting him in halls of fame and things like that, it's because you're already old.”

The man from Bogotá pointed out that the nomination was discussed in a chat group he has with some pilots.

“There is a driver chat that we have from when we did the legends race in the time of Covid and the comments from all the drivers were that: welcome to the old boys' club,” he stated.
