Super-work ahead
It’s only Thursday evening, but the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2024 edition is already entering the epic of motorsport due to the incredible work that the mechanics of the Jota team, Porsche’s customer team, are trying to complete.
There 963 #12 was in fact the victim of a bad accident in FP2while he was behind the wheel Callum Ilott. The extensive damage suffered by the car made it impossible for the team to regularly deploy the car on the track for the decisive final qualifying session, but the mechanics’ work now turned directly to Saturday.
Shakedown at the airport
In fact, with the car essentially to be rebuilt, it is also necessary to make sure that the assembly of the various components of the Hypercar 963 is correct. For this reason, tomorrow the Jota team has received the green light to carry out a test at the nearby airport, with the aim of verifying that everything works correctly on the Porsche.
“The spare monocoque has arrived – explained Dieter Gass, Jota team principal – we have just over 24 hours to rebuild the car, a job that normally takes three weeks. This is a great new challenge for everyone, especially for our incredible mechanics, but we have full faith in them and believe that they will perform another miracle.”
