José Luis Restán: with gratitude and hope

I remember well the irony of Pope Francis, with whom he started his 2021 interview with Carlos Herrera, about the “conclave wind” that is always unleashed when a Pope is sick, so I will not be scandalized by the fact that they begin … To appear pools, and for the expectations or fears that are expressed, sometimes delicately, sometimes with rudeness. While the debates that already point should not be scandalized to anyone, some can move to laughter (the papable dance begins as if it were a cucaña) and others, to sadness. The hurry that some exhibit is almost procaz, as well as deeply unfair the bias and meanness of their balance sheets on these years of Francisco. The Holy Faithful People, that of the “Saints of the door next door”, which Francisco would say, is far from those analyzes. It is at the same time moved, grateful and hopeful. The Church has already enriched itself with many doctrinal and pastoral contributions of Pope Francis, and with the testimony of his faith, hope and charity, and will assimilate them more and more over time. Some of their “reforms” will last, others will require adjustments, because that is the dynamics of the history of the Church that, necessarily, will be renewed with new records and nuances, with new deepenings in the inexhaustible ocean of its Lord, and with new people in the rudder of the boat.
