Political scientist Ananyeva said that Johnson’s resignation was the most shameful in the history of Britain
The loud departure of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson amid a political crisis and a large-scale wave of resignations of British government employees became the most shameful in the history of the country, he actually buried his political career. Such prospects for Johnson in an interview with Lenta.ru were called by the head of the Center for British Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Elena Ananyeva.
“It’s all. No one left with such disgrace,” the political scientist said.
In her opinion, even if Johnson can remain acting prime minister until a new leader of the Conservative Party is elected, the prospects for his further political career and the opportunity to take any serious position in the government will be close to zero.
On the contrary, Kira Godovanyuk, a researcher at the Center for British Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, believes that after his resignation, Johnson will continue to engage in political and public activities. “Now, having retired, he retains the post of British MP, but moves to the back benches. Already sitting on these back benches [экс-премьер Великобритании] Theresa May, so they won’t be bored,” she concluded.
Johnson left office on 7 July. He made this decision in the wake of the resignations of a number of members of the British Cabinet of Ministers. “The reason I have fought so hard these past few days to continue in my responsibilities is not only because of my desire, but also because I felt my duty, my responsibility to the people,” Johnson said, adding that he is sad to give up “the best job in the world”.
