Meteorological phenomenon “John” was downgraded to a tropical storm early this morning over central Guerrero, after hitting the coast of that state last night as a Category 3 hurricane.
At 3:00 a.m., “John” was located 45 km north-northwest of Acapulco, and 70 km east-northeast of Tecpan de Galeana, the National Meteorological Service reported.
It will generate extraordinary rainfall (over 250 mm) in Guerrero and Oaxaca; torrential rainfall (150 to 250 mm) in Veracruz and Chiapas, and intense rainfall (75 to 150 mm) in Michoacán and Puebla. In addition, the cloud bands of the tropical storm will increase the probability of showers to heavy rainfall in the center of the country, including the Valley of Mexico.
