Ciudad Juarez.- This Sunday, Potable Water crews from the Juarez Water and Sanitation Board (JMAS) carried out valve replacement work at the intersection of De los Aztecas Avenue and Pavo Real Street.
The intervention was carried out after identifying problems in an 8-inch valve that had reached the end of its useful life.
Architect Brandon Ávila, coordinator of District 1 of Drinking Water, reported that on Saturday, during the process of replacing this valve, an unexpected leak occurred.
This happened because an essential part for the proper functioning of the valve was in poor condition.
“When the initial leak was controlled, which was the second reason why the valve was going to be replaced, the piece gave way under the water pressure and was damaged even more,” Ávila explained.
In response to the situation, temporary adjustments were made to mitigate the leak.
Although three holes were drilled into the damaged part, the leak was contained the same day, allowing crews to continue with the repair work.
During the morning and part of the afternoon of this Sunday, JMAS staff worked on the installation of a connection to ensure the water supply while the replacement of the defective part was being managed. (David Ceniceros)
