His best tool to defend himself is a giant mechanical exosuit, integrated with an artificial intelligence called Smit. Atlas, a dedicated agent distrustful of AIs, must trust and be accompanied by Smith, whose primary protocol is to keep her alive.
The objective: put an end to Harlan’s plans and prevent a new attack to wipe out humanity.
What you didn’t know about Atlas, the new Netflix movie
At a press conference, visiting Mexico to promote the new Netflix film, the American actress and singer of Puerto Rican origin explained that her character Atlas was inspired by the bravery and determination of Sarah Connor, from Terminator II.
He shared that when he was young, when he saw that movie, he had a great desire to play a character in an environment of so much action. And now that she had the opportunity, she didn’t stop feeling butterflies in her stomach, like in each of his projects.
The protagonist Jennifer López, her antagonist Simu Liu and director Brad Peyton agreed that the plot of this futuristic and science fiction film is based on a big question in our times: “What could go wrong with AI?”
Although they respect AI, like the rest of technology, they emphasized that changes happen all the time and balance is best.
“I wanted to see what will happen in 400 years with solar energy. That prompted me to make this film. I wanted to show that AI is something we have, but it does not excuse us from our responsibilities. It is a tool. The film is an example of how “You can use AI for good things and bad things, like killing humanity,” said Brad Peyton.
In one of her professional secrets, JLo revealed that giving life to Atlas Shepherd, in addition to a promise of acting in her youth, was exhausting and a physical and mental challenge. “It was tiring to stay at that adrenaline level, to save the world. Physically and emotionally, every day she came back tired.”
She added that she shared the passion with her character, but differs in how closed she is as a data analyst agent. He recognized her as a woman and heroine, who like many, has been saving the world for quite some time. “It’s a reflection. Atlas represents the vulnerability and value of women, especially Latinas,” concluded the singer.
For his part, Simu Liu made known his admiration for the outstanding work of Jennifer Lopez and that working with her was pleasant, although complicated because as an actor he had to focus on his goal of “killing her and destroying humanity.”
This futuristic film, which will be released on May 24 on Netflix, one of the streaming platforms with the greatest presence in Mexico, allows you to see Jennifer López in a performance full of action and adrenaline, as she has rarely been seen on screen big.
It is worth mentioning that Jennifer attended the promotion of her new movie on Netflix in a prestigious hotel in Mexico City without the company of her husband Ben Affleck, which fuels the supposed theory of a crisis in their marriage, since they were not seen together at recent events.
She even refused to answer a question about her marriage to Ben Affleck that the press asked her at the event this Wednesday.
