JBS announced, this Saturday, the 4th, that due to the consequences of heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul, it decided to advance the payment of the 13th salary to its employees based in the region. According to the company, more than 15 thousand people will be covered, and the release represents around R$30 million.
The amount will be deposited next week. “The objective is to support employees at a time when the rains are causing enormous disruption to the entire population of the State,” said the company, in a statement.
“Our priority is to ensure people’s safety and allow them to have shelter and access to food and water. With this anticipation of the 13th, we hope to minimize disruptions”, says Gilberto Xandó, president of JBS Brasil.
The company also highlighted that since the start of the storms, 2,600 basic food baskets, 40,000 hygiene and cleaning kits and 40 tons of food have already been donated.
The rains have already left 57 people dead in Rio Grande do Sul and, to date, 67 are missing. Of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, 281 have already been affected, in what is considered the worst climate disaster in the State. In the capital, the level of the Guaíba River broke a record. There are records of blackouts and water shortages in the city. The bus station and the historic center were flooded.
