Making Auxílio Brasil permanent is one of the proposals that the deputy will take to the PT candidate for the Presidency of the Republic
The candidate for the Planalto by Avante, deputy André Janonessaid this Monday (Aug. 1, 2022) that the chance of withdrawing his candidacy is 100% if the former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (EN) accept all your requests. spoke in an interview with Congress in Focus.
Janones will meet Lula on Thursday (Aug 4), at 3:00 pm, following an invitation made by the PT twitter. In the interview, the deputy says that he hopes to remain a candidate for the presidency, but recognizes that “it’s not the most likely” and, in case of withdrawal, will seek re-election in the Chamber of Deputies.
The Avante candidate had already signaled the movement to support Lula last week. Janones stated that the meeting with Lula is a gesture that “strengthens democracy and that he will not give up the candidacy if the former president presents “vague proposals” during the conversation. “I’m not going to this meeting praying that Lula accepts my proposals so that I won’t be a candidate“, said.
Among the ideas he intends to bring to the PT, in relation to Auxílio Brasil, Janones wants the amount of R$ 600 to be permanent, which Lula has already promised in pre-campaign; that the resource be paid double to single mothers; and that the beneficiaries begin to include those enrolled in CADE Único – and not just those enrolled in the previous program, Bolsa Família.
According to Janones, there is the possibility of a previous conversation between the 2 candidates before Thursday. But the meeting will define your candidacy. He also said that he will make proposals on the inclusion of people with disabilities, for the creation of a mental health department and for investments in basic education, in addition to discussing a broad tax reform.
“I am proposing a serious debate, I would not need a candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic to seek re-election or to gain the spotlight“, said Janones, who considers it important to remain available for reelection in Congress “to face Bolsonarism” in the Legislative House.
The Avante candidate says he is not defending candidates, but ideas. About the current government, Janones said that “the violence with which Bolsonaro (PL) makes politics is very harmful to democracy“. Consider “a sad page in our history, which I hope we turn soon”.
For Janones, even if his candidacy is maintained after the Thursday meeting, he will continue to speak “For Democracy”. He said that he signed the manifesto for democracy organized by the USP Law School (University of São Paulo), but with the “to weight“to have your name”alongside some representatives of the financial system, who contribute to the fact that we do not have a full democracy“.
Janones stated that he was positively surprised by Lula’s request. “PT of arrogance 4 years ago would never call to talk or do any session with a candidate of 1, 2, 3% in the polls“. He was already affiliated with the PT, from 2003 to 2021.
