The American actor James van der Beek, the star of the memorable series known as ‘Dawson grows’ in Spain, has announced that he suffers from colorectal cancer. The 47-year-old interpreter wanted to communicate this in an interview with ‘People’ magazine, but has changed his plan and has done so through a message on his social networks.
«Every year, approximately 2 billion people around the world receive this diagnosis. And I am one of them,” he wrote on his Instagram account.
«There is no playbook for how to announce these things, but I had planned to talk about it at length with People magazine to raise awareness and tell my story on my own terms. But that plan had to be altered early this morning when they informed me that a tabloid was going to come out with that information,” says the actor.
“I have been dealing with this privately until now, receiving treatment and monitoring my overall health with greater focus than ever before. I’m in a good place and I feel strong. “It has been quite an initiation, and I will say more when I am ready,” he continued.
“Please know that my family and I deeply appreciate all the love and support,” thanked the actor, who closed his message with “more to come…”
Hours after the message, the magazine ‘People’ published the interview mentioned, where he explained that the cancer he suffers from is colorectal.
“There are reasons for optimism and I feel good,” he says in said interview.
This actor, born in Conectica, became famous playing Dawson Leery in the series ‘Dawson Grows’, from 1998 to 2003, and will appear in a special on the American channel Fox called The Real Full Monty, which is based on the British film 1997, and where a group of male celebrities will be seen stripping to raise awareness about cancer research and awareness.
In addition, he has participated in other fictions such as ‘CSI: Cyber’.
