A green ogre, a talking donkey, a princess who turns hideous at night and a dragon. These are the “Shrek” characters that kicked off the successful Dreamworks franchise, and it was Puss in Boots who kept the fiction alive with his own movies in recent years.
To the surprise of the fandom, the end of “Puss in boots: the last wish” showed the feline in search of new adventures and also old friends who live in the kingdom of Far Far Away. The rumors about a fifth installment of “Shrek” have not stopped since then and now they confirm that it is a reality.
In the latest report from Variety, Illumination’s Chris Meledandri revealed that they are looking for a way to revive the main saga with a new movie after 13 years and many more requests. Also, there is pressure to bring back the original voice cast of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy.
As is known, there were plans to release “Shrek 5” in 2019, but it did not materialize and this is the first time that there is talk of a continuation in a concrete and official way.

During the premiere of “Puss in boots: the last wish” at the Red Sea Film Festival, Antonio Banderas (feline voice actor) set off alarm bells among fans, as he commented on a potential continuation of the ogre.
“I have been with this cat for almost 20 years. The first time I did Puss in Boots he was working on Broadway, so I did my first session there. I have now made five films. Probably, there will be another one, and there are chances that Shrek will return, ”he said in an interview with Deadline.
