Nintendo surprises with this announcement that brings back remastered classic Mario Kart circuits.
Mario Kart 9 is one of those games that always sounds when a new nintendo direct, and there have been news! The surprise in this case is that it is not the long-awaited announcement of the new Mario Kart, but an ambitious update plan for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that promises to expand the game in an extraordinary way with new content until the end of 2023.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Extra Tracks Pass will release its first content in just a few weeks, on March 18, with eight of the 48 remastered tracks that this DLC will have. The price of the pack will be €24.99although Nintendo confirms that subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service will be able to download all these tracks at no additional cost.
During the Direct, some of the remastered tracks of other Mario Kart that will be present in the extra tracks pass were presented, including Centro Cocotero for Wii or Monte Chocolate for Nintendo 64. Taking advantage of the announcement, Nintendo has also announced a temporary price reduction of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which can be purchased until February 20 with a 33% discount in the eShop.
For now, no date has been given for the remaining five DLCs that will make up this Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Extra Track Pass. In addition to this surprise announcement, Nintendo has presented Nintendo Switch Sports or the long-awaited new Mario Strikers, both with trailers and release dates.
