It's Martinator straight away at COTA: “I didn't think I'd be so fast”

In 2023 the Cota weekend was to be forgotten for Jorge Martin, but the world championship leader did his homework by studying the first sector and Friday testing saw him go immediately below the track record. A demonstration of intent on the part of the Martinator who has the personal mission of convincing Ducati to dress him in red by promoting him to the official team starting from next season.

“I didn't think I'd be this fast here – explained the Spanish driver to the microphones of Sky Sports MotoGP – but I studied the first sector to distribute my energy well and then with the new tire I tried to push a little while braking and the time came out. Also on the race pace Martin feels at ease: “By mistake we put on a tire that had 16 laps and I did three in 2'03″0 so the pace is there, it's even almost better than the time-attack. For Sunday we will also need to manage our physical resistance well because it is really tough here.”
