Colombian soccer was shaken on May 19, when referee Gustavo Cortés made a controversial decision in a key match of the promotion tournament between Deportes Quindío and Llaneros.
Cortés, who had just given Quindío an offside goal, then awarded Llaneros a penalty for an alleged handball.
TV replays showed that the offense did not exist and the central defender ended up reversing the decision after watching the play on a cell phone. It should be remembered that in B there is no VAR.
Apparently that “someone” who notified the referee was a phone call (I don’t know who). THIS CAN NOT BE DONE. We will have to see what decision Dimayor makes and what position Llaneros takes if he doesn’t end up winning the game. https://t.co/zFFJFK50my

The penalty that was annulled after a cell phone call
This weekend a similar event took place, but this time in Portugal, during the match between Porto and Arouca. The central referee, Miguel Nogueira, made a controversial decision.
Nogueira awarded a penalty for a non-existent foul against Porto attacker Mehdi Taremi. The VAR called him to review the play and while he went to the screen, he lost communication with the video referees. Immediately, Nogueira was given a phone so that he could continue talking to the VAR and, finally, he decided to back out of the play, without being able to see the action on TV again.

Referee analysts said that the decision made by Nogueira was wrong, not because there was no penalty, but because he could not rely on other types of external aid other than VAR.
For this reason, given the loss of the signal, the center back should have kept what he saw on the field, even if he was wrong.
The decision took several minutes and in the replacement everything happened: Nogueira whistled another penalty for Porto, this one correct, which the Brazilian Galeno missed, at 90+15, and, finally, the locals, who lost 1-0, He found the tie with a goal from Evanilston at 90+19.
Very crazy this huh.
In Porto-Arouca, 20 minutes were added for wasting time!
The visitors were winning with a goal from Cristo Gonzalez and after a missed penalty at 90+15, the tie came at 90+17.
