Russia wants to support Belarus by increasing the import of its gasoline and diesel fuel. It is reported on September 9 “Kommersant” with reference to sources in the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Finance of Russia.
The publication notes that such plans are associated with the loss of the Ukrainian market by the Belarusian industry and problems due to sanctions. Argus reported that Belarus provided 45% of total gasoline imports and 37% of diesel fuel imports to Ukraine.
As a result of difficulties, Belarusian refineries (refineries) had difficulties with sales, so Moscow decided to increase the supply of products. According to sources, now the Russian Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy are discussing this issue.
In addition, the newspaper writes that if Russian refineries receive subsidies for fuel supplies to the domestic market, this will not affect Belarusian factories, which may turn out to be unprofitable for Minsk. Therefore, such operations are almost never carried out.
The source said that the question of how to pay subsidies to Belarusian factories is now being discussed. To do this, the Ministry of Finance can prepare changes to the Tax Code. The possibility of obtaining a damper by Belarus with the help of a trading company registered in Russia is also being considered.
