The 13 Israeli hostages freed by the Islamic terrorist group Hamas on Friday are in good health after undergoing physical and psychological medical examinations, medical authorities at the hospitals in Israel where they were treated confirmed. “The condition of the four minors and four women who returned to Israel last night is good. They are with their families in an exclusive and separate complex, surrounded by medical and psychosocial teams”, informed the Schneider hospital, specialized in pediatrics and located in Petra Tikva.
The four released minors were treated at this hospital: sisters Raz and Aviv Katz-Asher, 4 and 2 years old; Emilia Aloni, 5 years old; and Ohad Mundar, 9 years old. His mothers, Doron Katz-Asher, 34; Danielle Aloni, 44 years old; and Keren Mundar, 54; in addition to Ruth Mundar, 78 years old, Ohad’s grandmother, they were also treated at this hospital.
The rest of the freed men, five elderly women, received care at the Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, south of Tel Aviv, where they were also reunited with their families. “The five who arrived yesterday are stable. Each is being treated according to their condition, based on yesterday’s initial exams,” the hospital said in a statement. The women are Adina Moshe, 72; Hanna Katzir, 77 years old; Margalit Mozes, 78 years old; Channa Peri, 79 years old; and Yaffa Adar, 85, known for the viral video in which she was seen entering the Gaza Strip in a golf cart with armed militiamen. According to Wolfson hospital, some of them are “weak and exhausted” and are unlikely to be discharged this Saturday. With the exception of Channa Peri, who was captured in Nirim, the others released on Friday were kidnapped by Hamas in the October 7 attack on kibbutz of Nir Oz, one of the most massacred by the group and where around 80 people were taken hostage.
Along with the 13 Israelis, Hamas yesterday also released ten Thais and one Filipino, the latter identified as Jimmy Pacheco, 33, who was caring for an elderly person in Nir Oz – Amitai Ben Zvi, 80, was killed in the terrorist attack. The Thais, nine men and one woman, were identified as Natthawaree Moonkan, Santi Boonphrom, Boonthom Phankhong, Mongkhol Phajuabboon, Withoon Phumee, Wichai Kalapat, Bancha Kongmanee, Buddee Saengboon, Uthai Thunsri and Uthai Sangnuan. Thailand estimates that 32 of its citizens were killed by Hamas during the attack and another 26 were kidnapped on October 7, making it the country with the highest number of victims after the Israelis. Most Thais were employed in the agricultural sector.
Hamas and Israel reached an agreement for the release of 50 kidnapped people in exchange for the release of 150 Palestinian prisoners, in both cases women and minors, during a four-day truce that could be extended for another six days.
