The Israeli Army stated this Sunday (21) that it transferred to state funds around 15 million shekels (around R$20 million) found in facilities in the Gaza Strip associated with the Islamic group Hamas, which has controlled the enclave since 2007.
“The Israel Defense Forces confiscated the funds in several locations, including Hamas headquarters and offices where persecuted individuals associated with Hamas worked,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
In addition to the shekels, “US$1 million was also recovered, as well as Iraqi money, Jordanian dinars and Egyptian pounds,” the note detailed.
Since the start of the war in Gaza, after the attack carried out by Hamas on October 7 that ended with more than 1,200 deaths, Israeli troops say they have seized more than 20 million shekels (about R$26 million) in jihadist strongholds .
The Israeli Army also reported the discovery of a large tunnel under Khan Younis, in the south, where they found evidence that some of the 240 people who were kidnapped on October 7 in Israel were hidden there.
