Israeli actor and singer Idan Amedi, who plays agent Sagi in the series “Fauda”, on the platform streaming
Netflix, was seriously injured during clashes between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
According to Israeli media reports, he was transferred by helicopter to a hospital in Tel Aviv, where he is sedated and undergoing treatment.
Amedi, 35, was serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) when he was hit by shrapnel from a rocket launched by Hamas. He underwent emergency surgery and his condition is stable, but considered delicate by doctors.
The actor is one of the protagonists of “Fauda”, a series that portrays the conflict between Israel and Palestine from the perspective of agents infiltrated in enemy territories. The series has already won several awards and is in its fourth season, with a fifth season confirmed.
The news of Amedi's injury generated commotion among fans and co-stars, who expressed support and solidarity on social media.
Lior Raz, the lead actor and one of the creators of Fauda, called Amedi a “true hero” and said he is praying for his recovery. The series' production team also sent a message of affection and admiration for the actor.
Amedi is also a popular singer in Israel, with several albums and singles released. He began his artistic career at the age of 18, when he participated in a musical reality show. The Israeli joined the cast of “Fauda” in 2017.
