The Minister of Housing and Urban Agenda, Isabel Rodríguez, has attacked the housing policy of the president of the community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, whom she has accused of “putting spokes in the wheels” of the action of the Government in this matter and has once again opted for regulation because, as it has said, “the open bar in housing policy is suffocating millions of people.”
He said this during his speech at the first panel of the 41st Federal Congress of the PSOE in Seville, where the socialists have chosen housing as the main topic to open this forum in an event that brought together the minister, the mayor of Getafe, to the housing counselor of the Basque Country and the leader of the Cantabrian socialists.
During her intervention, Isabel Rodríguez has vindicated the action of the Government of Pedro Sánchez in terms of housingwith the approval of the Housing Law, although he has denounced the “studs in the wheels” by the PP communities, more specifically in Madrid.
“Mrs. Ayuso is causing thousands of Madrid residents to find themselves trapped in a rental market which implies that they have to be allocating 60%, 70% or 80% of your incomeif not 100%, of their salary to pay rent,” Isabel Rodríguez has criticized.
In this regard, he has defended that the PSOE “says regulation” because, as he has specified, “the open bar does not work” in housing mattershighlighting that the socialist mayors of the Community of Madrid are indeed demanding that Ayuso implement the Housing Law.
“This Government believes in the State of Autonomies and respects its powersbut above all it requires that these powers are always exercised in favor of citizens,” he stated.
