The attempt to revive the deal has been stalled for months.
Negotiations The resumption of Iran’s nuclear deal will begin again in the coming days, says the EU’s foreign relations chief Josep Borrell. Borrell visited Tehran to meet with, among other things, the foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahiania. The Iranian minister confirmed Borrell’s message.
Borrell also said Iran and the United States will soon be negotiating on disputes over the EU as a mediator. These negotiations are taking place in the Gulf Arab States in order to avoid confusion with the wider negotiations in Vienna.
The Iranian nuclear deal has been negotiated in Vienna, but the talks have been on ice for three months.
Nuclear contract has been at stake since 2018, when the United States president Donald Trumpin during the period unilaterally withdrew from it and imposed new economic sanctions on Iran.
Joe Biden negotiations resumed in March when Iran demanded that the United States remove Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from its terrorist list. Iran has also demanded guarantees that the Trump-era sudden departure will not be repeated.
The nuclear deal was finalized in 2015. It eases economic sanctions on Iran in return for Iran’s commitment not to develop a nuclear weapon. Iran has repeatedly stated that it has no such efforts.
