For the first summer outing, the Nerazzurri coach will test solutions and new men. The 3-4-1-2 tried in the joint training session on Friday against the Milanese is also being studied
While waiting for the market to give a definitive shape to the new Inter, Inzaghi starts immediately with tests and experiments. He serves to understand what new tactical solutions he will adopt to raise the level of last year, but also to test the aptitude and ability to integrate newcomers. That’s why, after trying some important variations on the theme already in yesterday’s joint training against the Milanese, the Nerazzurri coach will also take advantage of the first summer friendly scheduled for Tuesday afternoon in Lugano (kick-off at 18.30) to experiment again.
Taking a cue from what was staged yesterday on the fields of Pinetina, where the troops trained away from the eyes of fans and cameras, five fronts clearly emerge on which the coach immediately began to work.
“A fantastic shot”, signed Inzaghi. Thus the Nerazzurri coach speaking about Lukaku during the presentation conference for the new season. Because Inzaghi finds that Big Rom that he had had to say goodbye a year ago a few days after his arrival in Milan and now he will finally have the opportunity to shape his LuLa after that view at work with Conte. The first version was devastating, with a tally of 64 goals and 17 assists in 95 appearances. The LuLa 2.0 aims even higher, with the Golden Shoe as the final horizon (by Inzaghi’s own admission). The appetizer, just a small taste against the Milanese, left positive feelings witnessed by the three goals (out of ten) packaged by the two. On Tuesday in Lugano a new test that is much more reliable to understand at what point the feeling is up front. but also to understand how Big Rom is adapting to the new movements requested by Inzaghi compared to what happened before with Conte.
One of the most interesting novelties against the Milanese, in all probability also re-proposed on Tuesday in Lugano or in the subsequent tests against Monaco, Lens, Lyon and Villarreal, is the tactical design tested by Inzaghi, namely the 3-4-1-2. The variant to the usual 3-5-2, which the coach nevertheless reiterated “will remain the main module”, had already been sketched a few times last season, especially in extreme circumstances dictated by the result. The experiment continues, because Inzaghi finds himself a series of new faces to which the new dress could fit perfectly. For example Correa, tried against the Milanese in the role of attacking midfielder: for the Tucu, however, the new position could prove to be regenerating, as well as offering him even more opportunities for employment. But that role of attacking midfielder could perfectly fit Mkhitaryan (which Inzaghi has not yet been able to test). Wanting to go further, the position occupied by the Tucu would also be perfect for that Dybala always waiting for a call from Viale della Liberazione …
For Inzaghi there is also work on the outer lanes, where new faces like Bellanova and Gosens have arrived. Both under the orders of the coach, they saw each other in action against the Milanese with good results and in Lugano they will still be among the special observers. For the first it is a question of proving to be up to it and to be able to become, in perspective, the master of the band occupied today by Dumfries. For the German, on the other hand, perhaps an even more onerous task, that of not making Perisic forget. The play on the wings has always been crucial in Inzaghi’s schemes and the responsibility is high for both Gosens and Bellanova. The former Atalantino comes from an already quite important running-in period, having arrived in January, for the former Cagliari there is instead the need to take full advantage of every training and every chance to become familiar with the environment and the mechanisms on the pitch .
Another big news linked to deputy Brozovic, that Asllani bought by Empoli after a flash negotiation to secure one of the most crystalline talents expressed since last season in a delicate role for Inter for some time now. The first signs seem more than positive, with a lot of super goals (according to those who saw him) scored in the test against the Milanese. The Albanian took the place of the Croatian as expected, but moved into a four-man midfield. Certainly to be reviewed in the more usual context of 3-5-2, perhaps in Lugano. Certainly, in the plans of the coach there is a constant use of the 20-year-old from Elbasan, called to give his contribution from the first part of the season due to the concentrated calendar imposed by the World Cup and the Christmas break.
An important experiment is the one that can take shape in the next few hours. It all depends on the eventual farewell of Skriniar who would inevitably change the balance and the structure of a defense that has been the best in recent seasons. The Slovakian is expected to retire today, but he is not guaranteed to stay. If he leaves, the heir has already been identified, but it will still take time to insert it into the new context. In any case, the arrivals of reinforcements such as Bremer and Milenkovic (first names on the list for some time) are still to be defined. The test against Lugano on Tuesday can be useful to see some starters again, because both De Vrij and Bastoni enjoyed a few more days of vacation like the Slovakian. But Inzaghi is aware that something is brewing and it is better to prepare for some important change, although the rear set-up will remain unchanged.
