The forecast is for more than 100 millimeters of rain for the weekend; water should cause new problems in the State
Rio Grande do Sul is expected to receive a new large volume of rain from Friday (May 10, 2024). According to Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), the forecast is for more than 100 millimeters of precipitation until Sunday (May 12). The most affected regions will be the center-north and east of Rio Grande do Sul, including the north coast of the state and the south of Santa Catarina.
The State is on yellow alert for potential storm danger on Friday. The forecast is for winds of 40 to 60 km/h and hail. Inmet warns that the predicted rainfall volumes could cause new disruptions in areas affected by flooding.
D’s newsletterefesa Civil at 12pm this Thursday (May 9) reported that the number of deaths from the floods reached 107, with another 136 missing. At least 425 of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul were affected. More than 165 thousand people are homeless.
From Monday (May 14th) the forecast is for a drop in temperatures, with the potential for frost from Tuesday (May 15th).
