Four skiers were seriously injured, one of them in critical condition, after a cable car collapsed in the Austrian town of Otz on Tuesday, police and the cable car operating company said.
A spokesman for the cable car company said that the critically injured skier was transported by plane to a hospital in the city of Innsbruck.
He pointed out that the injured were two men and two teenagers from the same family. The cable car fell into the snow from a height of about 7 metres.
The cable cars, which extend for about 3 kilometers, transport skiers from the valley to a height of about 2,000 meters above sea level. The company spokesman stated that the cable car system was operating at full capacity due to the sunny weather when the accident occurred.
