Ing announced on Thursday the appointment of Alfonso Tolcheff, head of corporate and investment banking, New CEO of the entity in Spain and Portugal, after the march of Ignacio Juliá to Banco Santander.
As the entity reported in a statement, Tolcheff will take the position in which Almudena Román, the head of business development, was interim interim, after the then responsible for ING in Spain and Portugal last year, Ignacio Juliáwas appointed CEO of Santander Spain.
Tolcheff, who has been linked to ING for 21 years, will also be at the head of retail and corporate banking and investment businesses of the bank, directly reporting to the person in charge of Retail Banking, Pinar Abay, and a member of the group management team.
With extensive experience in the Spanish banking sector, he joined ING in 2004 in the Procurement Financing team. Throughout these years, he played a crucial role in the division Capital Markets & Advisory, leading important transactions. In 2022, he was appointed director of Corporate Banking and Investment, and joined the Management Committee for Spain and Portugal. Under its leadership, the corporate and investment business business of ING in Iberia doubled its income and commissions
