[Aggiornamento ore 19.30] – Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton were fined € 10,000 each by the commissioners because their physiotherapists entered the Parc Fermé without permission before the weigh-in. The fine is suspended for the remainder of the season, but the physiotherapist passes could be revoked should these incidents recur.
It closes with a small yellowwhich will probably result in a fine or little else, the Austrian Grand Prix 2022. After a race full of emotions, overtaking, twists and even interventions by the commissioners – given the high number of penalties linked to non-compliance with track limits – for the top three finishers, the afternoon at the Red Bull Ring was extended with a visit to the stewards’ office. Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen And Lewis Hamiltonthe three drivers who got on the podium of the Spielberg circuit, have all been called up – one after the other – for an alleged failure to comply with the procedures set out in the post-tender protocol. These are very precise formal steps, on which F1 has always tried to be rather rigid.
The rule that would have been broken by all three, according to the convocation document released by the FIA, would be thearticle 12.2. 1 of the International Sporting Code. This refers to a “violation of the Code, FIA regulations or, where applicable, national rules or any supplementary regulations“. Most likely the Federation’s reference is to the interaction that often occurs between physiotherapists and pilots in the closed park before their weighing. This issue has been going on for a few races already and the FIA has already warned the teams to stop doing it. However, it seems rather difficult to imagine that any sanction greater than a ‘simple’ fine for the pilots involved would be imposed by the commissioners.
