JNow finally with a charging strategy: What we sorely missed in the Ioniq 5 from Hyundai last year now works properly straight away in the new Ioniq 6. Anyone driving an electric car on long journeys needs smart planning to minimize travel time. The software must identify fast charging stations along the route, know whether there are free spaces, and should set up the charging process so that the battery is filled to a maximum of 80 percent, because a full charge takes an excessive amount of time.
The Ioniq 6 can now handle all of this. On long journeys, you will be informed that the charging planning is now at work, and after a few minutes of calculation and online research, you will be shown which fast charger you will arrive at, with which calculated battery level, and how long it will take to charge there. There are only two small negative points compared to the competition: You can't specify how low the battery level can fall. In our experience, people tend to pause too early, namely at charge levels between 30 and 35 percent. That's too cautious for our taste. The Hyundai uses the value specified for everyday charging as the upper limit. If you always charge fully because charging times are not an issue at home or in the office, you have to switch manually before the long tour.
