American taxi and food delivery company Uber Technologies said on Thursday that it is investigating a data security problem after its network was hacked. Because of the investigation, Uber had to shut down several of its internal communication and operational control systems, the news agency Reuters reports.
According to The New York Times The 18-year-old hacker had accessed the employee’s Slack account with his password and published, among other things, some pornographic images. He had also sent a message stating that he was a hacker and that Uber had been the target of a data breach.
Slack told Reuters it was investigating the incident. According to it, there were no indications in the case that the Slack application had vulnerabilities that compromised data security.
Data security has been a concern of Uber before. In 2016, a hacker got hold of the personal data of a total of 57 million customers and drivers.
