LGTBIQ+ representation is not a foreign matter to the “Game of thrones” universe, much less will it be in “House of the Dragon”, the new HBO Max spin-off. This time, the television series based on the work of George RR Martin will bring a passionate romance —linked to a serious infidelity— between two characters that will have serious consequences for the Targaryen and Velaryon houses. Who is it about?
Laenor Velaryon
The first is Laenor Velaryon, son of Corlys and Rhaenys Velaryon. In the A Song of Ice and Fire books, he marries Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and they have three children: Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey.
Nevertheless, this character hides an important secret: he is not in love with his wife at all and leads a second life in which he sleeps with a large number of men.
In the series “House of the dragon” will be played by British actor John Macmillan. Although he is mostly thought to be gay, some fans believe he could be bisexual or pansexual.
But the most important thing is going to be his romance with Sir Joffrey Lonmouthwho is the next LGTBIQ+ character to present the series.
Joffrey Lonmouth
Sir Joffrey Lonmouth will be known as ‘The Kissing Knight’. East will become one of Laenor Velaryon’s partners and it will become one of the most crucial.
His secret romance with Laenor becomes so passionate that the latter even names one of his children with Rhaenyra after him.
According to the story of the books, this character dies of a severe blow to the head during a tournament held at the wedding of the Targaryen princess and Prince Velaryon.
Solly McLeod, a British actor confirmed for the series, is in charge of bringing it to life in the HBO production and will appear in the next episodes.
